How I Actually Use AI

Paperwork, shipping mistakes, mechanics, and plants

A few ways I used AI that saved me time, cut down on mistakes, or made an annoying job easier.

I completed medical paperwork and caught an AI mistake

AI walked me through the unanswered parts of a medical packet, helped complete and sign it, and prepared it to send. I then caught misplaced QuickDASH markings, had it rebuild the affected pages, and sent the corrected packet.

What I got out of it: Less form wrangling without giving up the final inspection.

Why AI was useful: It could handle the packet as a whole and focus my attention on missing answers. The first output still needed checking.

I found the hidden way to correct an eBay label

I bought a shipping label too quickly, then realized the package size and weight needed to change. After eBay searches and help pages got me nowhere, AI found the correct location, steps, and direct link.

What I got out of it: I reached the place where I could handle the label without spending more time guessing eBay's terminology.

Why AI was useful: I could describe the mistake in my own words instead of already knowing the right support-page keywords.

I learned when to hand the motorhome to a mechanic

AI helped me work through an intermittent motorhome stall, but it also misidentified parts and I accidentally broke a hose during the process. Eventually, the right answer was to stop and call a mechanic.

What I got out of it: A clearer handoff containing the symptoms, attempted checks, and remaining uncertainty.

Why AI was useful: It helped organize the case for the expert. It did not replace the expert or fix the motorhome.

I found the infestation in my houseplants

A new houseplant turned yellow and unhealthy even though its soil was wet. In my photos, AI noticed flies in the soil that I had missed and warned me to inspect the nearby pots. They were affected too.

What I got out of it: I treated the plants with neem oil, eliminated the infestation, and the badly affected plant is recovering.

Why AI was useful: The photos surfaced the clue I did not know to search for. “Why are my leaves yellow?” would have produced far broader advice.
