Terms of use
The short version, written out.
These terms cover this website and the classes, sessions, and materials offered through it. They are meant to be read, not skimmed past.
Who you are agreeing with
This site and the services described on it are provided by Hands On AI Lab LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. “We” and “us” below mean that company. Using this site means these terms apply to you.
What this site is
It is the public face of a small training business: schedules, descriptions, a weekly column, and ways to get in touch. Everything here is offered for general education. It is not legal, financial, medical, tax, or professional advice, and nothing on it creates a professional relationship on its own.
Classes and sessions
Community classes are published with a date, a place, and a description, and registration is encouraged because seating is limited. Details can change when a venue or partner changes them; the event page is the current version. Paid work — private sessions, organizational workshops, Integration Support and custom projects — is covered by a written service agreement you sign before the work starts. Where that agreement and this page differ, the agreement wins.
Booking and paying
Consultations, sessions, workshops and community events are booked at handsonailab.com/book. There are no accounts: your confirmation email carries private links for managing the booking, signing and paying. Keep them to yourself, because anyone with a link can use it. Paid sessions, workshops and community events need at least 48 hours' notice.
The price, and any travel fee for in-person work outside the communities we serve without one, is shown before you pay and is fixed once you book. Payment is by card through Stripe, with no surcharge. For most paid services you can pay a 20% deposit and the rest before the service starts, or pay in full; the service cannot begin until payment is complete. If you need to pay by check, contact us before booking to arrange it.
The place and the type of service are part of what you agree to. Changing either means cancelling and booking again under the terms below. Changing only the date or time is an ordinary reschedule.
Cancelling and rescheduling
- More than 7 days before: cancel or reschedule from your booking link. Your deposit is refunded or moves to the new date.
- Within 7 days: online changes close and the deposit becomes nonrefundable. If you paid in full, we keep 20% of the total and refund the rest.
- If you do not attend: the deposit is forfeited and any unpaid balance is not owed. If you paid in full, we keep 20% and refund the rest.
- If we cancel: everything you paid is refunded.
- Weather, wildfire, road closures, outages and similar events: we reschedule without penalty, and if that is not possible, refund everything you paid.
- Integration Support: once Session 1 has taken place, no refund is available. If we have to cancel Session 2, it is rescheduled. If you cancel Session 2 without rebooking, or miss it, the 30-day support period still begins when Session 2 was scheduled to end.
- Free consultations can be cancelled or moved any time before they start.
We may decline to begin, or stop, an engagement that is unsafe, unlawful, materially different from what was described, or seriously disrupted, or when the agreed venue access or conditions are not provided. In those cases no refund is due.
In the room
For in-person work, the host provides the space, power, reliable internet with access to the AI tools planned for the session, a screen the presenter's laptop can connect to, and something to write on. For organizational workshops, the host also provides participant devices and accounts. We adapt when something is missing, but the session may not be as good.
Never give us passwords, sign-in codes, recovery codes or API keys; we do not need them. We teach you and your staff to do the work in your own systems rather than operating them for you, and we only touch your keyboard or mouse with your permission at that moment. Your organization's own policies on data, security and AI use always come first; do not put confidential or regulated information into an AI tool unless you are allowed to.
Community events are free, open to the public, and may not require attendees to buy anything, join anything or accept marketing. Anyone under 18 attends with a parent or guardian for the whole event.
Take notes and photographs freely. Audio or video recording of our instruction needs a separate written agreement. We may take still photographs at events; a host can opt out in writing beforehand, and if anyone at the event objects, we take none.
What we can and cannot promise about AI
AI tools are useful and they are also wrong sometimes, confidently. Classes teach verification habits precisely because of that. We cannot promise any particular result from using a tool you learn about here, and decisions you make with those tools stay yours. Keep human judgment in charge of anything that matters, and verify before you rely.
Third-party tools discussed in class have their own terms and their own prices, and they change often. We are not responsible for what those companies do, charge, or discontinue.
Whose work this is
The writing, photographs, handouts, slides, and design on this site belong to Hands On AI Lab LLC unless credited otherwise. You are welcome to quote a passage with attribution and a link, to share pages, and to keep and use class handouts, worksheets and slides for your own work or inside your organization. Reselling, republishing, publicly uploading or redistributing them, or using them to run your own paid training, requires written permission — which is usually given when asked.
For custom projects such as websites, you own the finished work, its source code and your content once it is paid for in full. We keep our own reusable methods, templates and tools, a private archive copy of what we delivered, and the right to show the delivered version in our portfolio. The project agreement sets out the details.
Feedback and testimonials are published only with the participant's explicit permission, in the participant's own words, and are taken down on request.
Reasonable use
Do not use this site to break the law, to scrape it in ways that degrade it for other people, to submit someone else's personal information through its forms, or to interfere with how it runs. Automated retrieval for search and AI assistants is welcome; see the crawler policy in robots.txt.
Availability and limits
This site is provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and online, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or current at every moment. To the extent the law allows, Hands On AI Lab LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of this site or its materials, and our total liability for any claim relating to a paid engagement is limited to the amount paid for that engagement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes belong in the state or federal courts located in Colorado.
Changes and contact
If these terms change, the effective date above changes with them. Questions go to christopher@handsonailab.com, and they get a real answer.
